dream come true in IKEA

I was about fouteen when I first saw an IKEA catalogue. The tasteful colours, the splendid design and the very carefully thought out innovative storage spaces that would only kindle the dormant creativity in you to innovate some more. I used to look at the kids room section then. That was something I could relate to at that point. The IKEA catalogue made my fantasies a lot more meaningful and organised. At that time, my sister was about nine years old and we shared a fairly spacious room. It had two single beds each to one wall of the room forming an 'L' shape. We did have other things, but nothing that was IKEA. I always dreamt of a bunker bed with florescent stick-up stars staring at us in the night as we lay on our beds. We got none of that as we did not have an IKEA in our town.

Later, we moved to India and I meanwhile did spend a good deal of time adorning my fantasies.

Time then brought me to SG and for the first time in my life I visited an IKEA store. It was as if I'd suddenly slipped into a dream land, as if the book had come alive in front of me. As i walked in with Kumar I felt like a child being escorted into faiyland.

From that day on, I make sure that pay a visit to the store as much as I can to spend a little 'real' time with my fantasies. Yesterday was one such day.
